multiples

Do you always only make one card or sometimes a few of the same? I do like doing multiples, once you have your card figured out, it is fun to do!
I wanted to have a nice, non-bulky card to send my fall fat pages in for the swap and made these:

daisies

A simple stippled oval frame, a large daisy stamp (Flourishes), a touch of coloring, a doodles frame, and voila: a one-layer non bulky card that would protect my swap card and didn’t add postage. I really loved doing these, if you count, there are 8 daisies in the bunch as there are 8 swap partners in this round :)

Another multiple that I did recently were these Halloween cards. I left a space open on the front to add a personal greeting:

stubby stampers

These were done with stamps provided by Stubby Stampers who is sponsoring the current Fun Fallidays Challenge on RubberRoadAdventures! If you are not a member of RubberRoadAdventures, consider yourself invited by me :)
Not ready to become a member? RRA also has a blog for you where you can see selected items. Be sure to scroll down to the Fallidays Challenge slideshow, it is a riot with great fun and artwork to boot!

It is going to be a while :)
Last week my kit came for Fairy Flower Garden by Martina Weber of Chatelaine from European Cross Stitch Company:

fairy flower garden kit

Beautiful silks, fabric, beads and crystal. I felt very pampered: the fabric was already serged all around, the beads not in baggies but containers, there were needles and all the silks and metallic threads in flossaway bags on a ring! Can’t ask for more!
Putting needle to fabric, I got a good start:

Getting the first inner border done without mis counting felt very good, it anchors the following parts and you feel like nothing can go wrong from here :) Imagine swarovski crystals in the empty spaces! ahhhh :) I can’t put the beads and crystals in yet because that would mess the rest up when I roll the fabric.

Yesterday I tried to cut some thin fabric with my cricut. Ironed it on to some bonding stuff (name escapes me at the moment) and then laid it on a cutting mat. Well, I think I could use a fresh blade for cutting fabric, BUT for what I wanted to use these pieces for, the slightly frazzled appearance was perfect :)

I used my fabric leaves for the central element of a new batch of “fat pages” for our ATC stampers seasonal fat page exchange. These will be bound once I get the pages from the other players, just like my Spring Fat Book , if you remember :)

The leaves were cut with Accent Essentials, the detail overlay was cut from black glitter card stock. Both with multicut (2). For my backgrounds I used different sprays, colorwash, memories mist and for a top layer the wonderfully shimmery Scent-A-Mists in green apple. Lets see if you can see this a bit better on the closer image:

Love how the fuzzies from the fabric leaf peek from the upper layer, that is exactly what I wanted! The sentiment stamps are from Firecrackerdesigns by Pamela.

Our DT member Jeanne has given us a fun challenge for the new Cottage Rumble that starts today: Make something “Inside-Out”. Uhmm, ok… most of us were a wee bit puzzled by that request, but after some inquiry we learned that she just wanted us to make something that isn’t just decorated on the outside but also has something flashy on the inside, no matter what the project! You need to go check out what everybody did at the Cottage, so much fun! What a creative bunch of ladies :)

For me, the epitome of “inside-out” would be the neverending card! There really isn’t an outside or inside for this, you just decide for yourself where you want to start… So I made one for my rumble using the fun stamps from Belinda’s Halloween and Thanksgiving stamps :

Want to make your own? Well follow along:

There are numerous instructions available on the web on how to make the neverending card. I do not know where this originated or whose idea it was to begin with, I claim nothing ;)
Just want to add my take to the pool here!

For a 6 by 6 inch card, start with 4 pieces of card stock cut to 3 by 6 inches each. Score each piece along the long center line at 1.5 inch and score each short side also at 1.5 inches. I used 4 different colors here just for clarity so you can follow where each piece ends up. After scoring, arrange your pieces as shown and glue the two squares together in the 4 corners only. The top layer/fron has the cut going vertically. I am temporarily holding two pieces each together with removable tape. After glueing, you can trim any sides that came out messy or crooked.

Once your pieces are glued, you will start folding. As you work with this the folds will become more prounounced and it gets easier. You can see some of my dirty yard fingers in some of the pictures because the card will not lay flat yet :)

From the front, open up the two sides and bend them to the back to reveal level 2. Lift up the center top panel, down the center bottom panel to reveal the third level:

You are bending and creasing the folds as you go for the first time. Now open up the two center parts from level 3 to reveal level4:

Now if you open up level 4, you will be at the beginning again.

You have many choices how to decorate this card, I like to add stamped or designer paper panels to it, but it can also be stamped or decorated right on the base card.

Here is a suggestion for panel arrangement:

You can see that the main areas from level 3 peek through to level 2, keep that in mind when you are decorating your card. Have fun!!

Now don’t go wasting your paper trying to print from my blog, I have prepared a 3 page pdf with the instructions, just click here to get printable instructions!.

Happy Fall :)
It is that day of the season where my pictures get switched out! I’m cheap like that.. I buy one frame for all season and just pop the new picture in until next time. Less bulk to store and way less frame to pay for…

Here is a tiny one that hangs midway on the stairway, I forgot who the pattern was by, I took this as a partial from a larger picture:

fall cross stitch

The next one is slightly larger, but just as simple cross stitch fun with overdyed threads. This pattern is from the “Boxer” series from Lizzie Kate and hangs in my kitchen:

More simple cross stitch from Lizzie Kate from the “Button Up” series. Each pattern comes with a custom polymer clay button to add:

It snowed all day yesterday here, doesn’t look much better today! Next week we’ll be back to warm temperatures though :)

Wondering what happened to the mountains? Well they are finished and waiting to be framed! Here is an overview:

Sue Lentz mountains

This all looks pretty random but it was a heck of a lot of counting I tell ya ;) Bit closer for the last part that I just did in the gallery .

So, and what are you doing when you’re not playing with stamps and paper?
