It is getting colder and snowier by the minute!
I got my shopping done.
the fireplace is nice and cozy
pizza in the oven!
birds are fed!

Look, even the big ones are cold and hungry (mind you this guy is about the size of the bird box in the previous post…)

I dug around a bit in the old picture files (july 07) and found a rather bad example of the nest box with swallow that I talked about in my last post:

swallow and hummer

If you look closely you can see one of the little birds peeking out of the box, look to the lower left of the picture for a humming bird that is having fun with the fuchsia :)

Well, we are getting ready for a blizzard here, I better go shopping and stock up for the weekend!

we have takeoff :)

I’ve been working on some more ATCs these days, very relaxing fun I have to say! These are for the One for the Birds! swap at the Flourishes Forum on SCS. There is still time to p articipate, they are only due May 1st :)

one for the birds

My ATCs have a story behind them: every spring for many years now I have the cutest TRIO of tree swallows visiting and nesting in a rather old and shabby box hanging close to my house. It is a great joy to watch them fly their never-ending circles, inspecting the box and twittering about. One year I thought, gosh they are coming back every year, they should have a nice new box. I hung it up. The three swallows came. It was a disaster. The inspection failed miserably, the swallows were miserable, this was not what they were coming for. I hung up the old beat up and dirty box again and all was well :) They’ve been coming ever since and the old box is holding up LOL….

I used stamps from the Flourishes “Home Tweet Home” set. The background was done with watercolor crayons (garden green, not quite navy, more mustard) and coloring on the stamped items with copics. The bird house was stamped on structured DCWV card stock and pieced over the swirls. The box was hung with beading twine and the border was stitched in stem stitch using sock reinforcement wool (ahhh the stash!).

Here is another fairy from the Forest Fairies Set from Elemental Doodles:

forest fairies

I used the same sketch as in the other fairy card just turned sideways. Some more crochet fun on this one as well, I don’t think I’ve ever crocheted leaves before but they were easy to do. Isn’t she so sweet using the flower to listen into the forest?
Here is a closeup:

Coloring was done with copics again, love that deep red dress!

it’s Spring!

A Fairy Letter

Using several challenges from SCS and the good weather that we are having right now I put this little letter writing fairy in a summery flower card:

This cute little fairy is from the Forest Fairies set of elemental Doodles. Isn’t she just too cute? Here is a closeup:

I used designer paper from Papertrey Ink (Bitty Baby Blessings), Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss and Plum Pudding card stock. All coloring done with copics and SU markers (leaves).
The two flowers were crocheted with Cebelia size 30 thread, I made two sizes just by switching to a different size hook :)

I used the Creat a Basket easter set from Elemental Doodles to creat(e) some ATCs for a swap. This set has 22 images!

easter ATC

How about some “Stampin’Stats for these:
1 brayer
2 embossing powders
7 copics
8 ink pads
42 crystals
42 mini pop dots
70 card stock panels (including back)
392 stamped images (NOT including the back)
is what it took to make these:

I used a technique from the august 07 TJ newsletter called “Rainbow Double” to make these. Then had some fun with the eggs and basket:

<p>I can’t believe there is no sewing on these…. but at least they have crystals <img src=
